How do I choose the right band saw blade for my sawing machine?

SDS2 3MS

If the wrong teeth are used, the saw blade can fill up with metal and also the performance is greatly reduced.

Sometimes resulting in the saw blade "bouncing" on the material. By choosing the right toothing, you ensure several teeth go into the material to be cut at the same time. Failure to do this can cause the saw blade to "bite". The saw blade pitch on a band saw often indicated in a TPI (toot per inch) or Z (Zahne), e.g. 10/14. This means there are 10 to 14 teeth per inch on the saw blade.

To help you choose the right tooth pitch, you can use the following overview.

  • Determine the shape and dimensions of the material to be cut
  • Look up this combination in the table
  • The right toothing can be found under the dimensions of the material in the TPI column
